Pauline works in a range of materials from stone, wood and metal, to clay and papier mâché. She is fascinated by the illusion created from modelling in relief and casting in papier mâché – a technique used in the past to produce theatre sets.
This has led her to produce numerous wall panels and small reliefs. In turn, she also works two-dimensionally, painting and drawing with oils, acrylic, conté and pencil.
My work ebbs and flows between medium, and I am often working on more than one piece at a time. I use the human form as the central theme to ‘hang’ my own personal experiences on, and draw inspiration from life events and philosophies – theology, human psychology and Jungian thinking. I am driven to create in response to the passion of the human struggle – connection, communication, birth and death.
