Metamorphosis
Originally inspired by reincarnation, transformation and the transient state of a soul waiting to enter another life (tree of souls). These mystical ideas took me to the reality of natures metamorphosis and what that meant in a human context. The concept of evolving back to the sea or breaking out of a chrysalis.
This in turn led me to focus on the organic form and from a human perspective the ‘what ifs’ of life and evolution. I was drawn to metaphorically trying to capture the painful reality and fragility of human existence, by hanging these experiences on to the natural organic world.
